English Toffee Candy

English Toffee Candy


  • 1/4 pound butter
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Small package of chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Small package semi-sweet chocolate chips


  1. Cover bottom of tin cookie sheet with 1/2 of walnuts
  2. Melt butter in frying pan
  3. Add sugar and water to the pan stirring constantly on high heat until golden brown, about 5 minutes
  4. Pour sugar mixture over walnuts
  5. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over candy
  6. After about 1 minute, spread chocolate evenly
  7. Sprinkle with the remainder of the walnuts
  8. Put in cold place until chocolate hardens
  9. Break into pieces
