Yield: 12-16 servings

Duncan Hines Lemon Supreme Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 package Duncan Hines Deluxe II Lemon Supreme Cake Mix
  • 1 package lemon instant pudding mix (4 serving size)
  • ½ cup Crisco Oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Blend all ingredients in a large bowl; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Bake in a greased and floured tube pan, 10-inch or fluted at 350° for 45-55 minutes, until center springs back when touched lightly.
  4. Cool right side up in pan for about 25 min., then invert onto serving plate.

Glaze

  1. Blend 1 cup confectioners sugar with either 2 tablespoons milk or 2 tablespoons lemon juice.
  2. Drizzle over cake

Notes

AT ALTITUDES OVER 3500 FEET: Stir in ⅓ cup flour into mix. Mix as directed using 1 package lemon instant pudding mix, ⅓ cup Crisco Oil*, 1¼ cups water, and 4 eggs. Bake at 375° for about 40-45 minutes.

*Crisco Oil is recommended as some other oils may cause the cake to fall.

These recipes are based on the 18 ounces cake mix Why would the liquids not decrease with the smaller amt dry ingredients ? My lemon cakes have not turned out as well as when I first started making them, I just realized the smaller amt of cake mix in each box may be the cause

I happen to know this recipe is at least 61 years old! My mother started making this cake off the back of the box before we moved to Texas in 1962. Our family has been making this pound cake for that long! In fact, I am making one today for Church. They came out with two kinds, strawberry, and lemon. Mama made the strawberry a few times, but our family preferred the lemon. Eventually, we began making the lemon exclusively. We love this cake, and everyone who eats it wants the recipe.

I used a recipe for Cake box lemon recipe. Using non-instant lemon pudding. The cake was a disaster. WHY?

I have been making this Dunkin Hines Lemon Pound cake since for 51 1/2 yrs. My son was 9 1/2 yrs old. He is now 61 1/2 yrs old
