Banana Peanut Bread

Ingredients
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cups flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
- 1 cup dates, cut into pieces
Instructions
- In a large bowl cream the oleo with the sugar
- Beat in the eggs one at a time
- Blend in the bananas and lemon juice
- Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg
- Blend in the banana mixture
- Stir in the nuts
- Turn into greased and flour 9" x 5" 3" loaf pan
- Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour - 1 hour and 10 minutes or until the cake tester inserted in center comes out clean
- Remove from pan
- Cool completely on wire rack
- Wrap and store and room temperature overnight to mellow flavors
