White Cake

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups cake flour
  • 3½ tsp. baking powder
  • 1⅓ cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2/3 cup soft shortening
  • 2 egg whites, unbeaten
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift the dry ingredients together into a mixing bowl; add the shortening and ¾ cup milk.
  2. Beat for 2 minutes. Add the egg whites, ¼ cup milk and vanilla; beat for 2 minutes more.
  3. Bake in two prepared 8-inch pans at 350° F. for 25 to 30 minutes.
