Vintage Recipe Box
If you are a recipe box collector or wanting to start preserving your own recipes, I have created a list of resources to find recipe boxes and cards.
Once you find your recipe boxes, below are a few links you may want to check out to help you with recipe cards and recipe card protectors to preserve your recipes.
Let’s start with the vintage recipe boxes.
These are the ones I prefer to collect and share with the readers of the Vintage Recipe Project readers. The earlier recipe boxes were wooden and then the metal recipe boxes became more popular in the 1950’s.
The two best places to find vintage recipe boxes are on eBay and Etsy.
First, let’s take a look at Etsy. I personally think it’s a great place to find vintage recipe boxes that are empty and reasonably priced. For me, I do not buy that many from Esty because I prefer them stuffed full of old recipes.

If you are looking to start your own family heirlooms to pass from one generation to the next or a fun personalized gift, then Etsy is the place for you to look. Many store owners offer custom and personalized recipe boxes

Vintage Recipe Box
eBay is a great place to find vintage recipe boxes too but I find that the price for each box and the shipping tends to be higher on eBay vs. Etsy, but not all the time. If the item is a buy it now or doesn’t have very many bidders, then you may not experience this.

eBay does have some newer recipe boxes but I have found that the ones offered are mostly used or vintage. Depending on what you are looking for, you may find it if you keep looking or create a search to notify you.

If you do see a recipe box that fits your needs on Etsy or eBay, you can always count on Amazon to find something!

This a is a great idea to do for new brides. Have everyone to write their favorite ones down and find her a recipe box. What a thoughtful gift, a useful one too!! Thanks for the idea.
