Walnut Strips Recipe

- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 3 cups flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1 1/2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
- Cream shortening and brown sugar
- Add boiling water to molasses
- Sift dry ingredients and add alternatively with molasses and water to creamed mixture
- Chill and roll
- Cut into strips 1" wide and 3" long
- Sprinkle with walnuts
- Bake at 350 degrees for 12 mintues
