I LOVE this vintage recipe box. THESE are exactly the recipes I had in mind when the concept of the Vintage Recipe Project was born. OLD OLD OLD musty recipes that are so faded they are hard to read.
When I opened the lid it smelled vintage. That musty old paper smell. I am so excited to dig into this box!!!!
This is stamped on the bottom of the box. I am not sure if this is where the box was created or where the original owner lived.
The clippings inside from the newspapers are from Los Angeles with no dates but based on some of the notations it appears that the recipes in this box are from the 1930s – 1940s.
The owner could have been a dog breeder or showed dogs as a lot of the slips she wrote the recipes on are “kennel account” slips and breed slips.
