Swiss Steak

  • 2-2½ lb. steak
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 t salt
  • dash of pepper
  • ¼ cup shortening melted
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 large cloves
  • garlic minced
  • 2 cans (2½ cups) Cambells Tomato Soup


  1. Pound flour and seasonings into meat with the edge of a heavy saucer until flour is absorbed.
  2. Brown steak in hot shortening in an oven pan or skillet.
  3. Add onions, garlic, and cook until ____.
  4. Blend in soup; cover.
  5. Cook in a moderate oven (350°F) about 1½ hours, or until meat is tender.
  6. Serve.
