Susan’s Brownies Recipe

Notation in upper right hand corner states "Good Housekeeping, 1948"
- 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
- 2 squares chocolate, melted
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup sifted flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- Cream 1/2 cup shortening and 1 cup sugar 2 tablespoons at a time
- Stir in 2 eggs
- Stir in melted chocolate
- Combined dry ingredients
- Add nuts
- Add to 8 x 8 x 2
- Bake in oven 350 degrees about 30 - 35 minutes
- Cook until tester ___ _______ should come out dry.
- Cut while still warm into squares or bars with sharp knife
- Cool in pan
- When cool, cover in pan with waxed paper
- Put pan in covered container
