Steamed Raisin Puff


  • 2 cups sifted enriched flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2/3 cup seeded raisins, stemmed
  • 3/4 cup milk


  1. Steam raisins 10 minutes in steamer - place over boiling water
  2. Sift dry ingredients
  3. Add shortening
  4. Blend thoroughly
  5. Add raisins and blend lightly
  6. Gradually add milk
  7. Blend thoroughly
  8. Place in greased 1 pound coffee can
  9. Cover securely with waxed paper
  10. Steam 50 minutes
  11. Serve while hot
