Split Pea Soup Recipe

Split Pea Soup
Yield: Serves 8

Split Pea Soup


  • 2 cups split peas
  • 2½ qts. water
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 1 carrot grated
  • 2 stalks celery sliced thin
  • 2 sprigs parsley (1 t. dried parsley)
  • 2 sprigs dill (1 t. crushed dill weed)
  • 3 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2½ t. salt
  • ½ t. pepper (black)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 T butter or margarine


  1. Wash peas and combine with water, onions, carrot, celery, parsley and dill.
  2. Cover: bring to boil and cook over low heat 2½ hrs.
  3. Add potatoes, salt and pepper.
  4. Cook 15-20 min. - stir in milk and butter, bring to boil.
  5. Remove and serve
