Spice Cake With Baked Frosting Recipe

Spice Cake Batter
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/3 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves, ground
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sour milk
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup nuts
Spice Cake Batter
- Cream shortening and brown sugar
- Add the whole egg plus 1 egg yolk
- Beat together until creamy
- Sift the dry ingredients
- Fold into creamed mixture
- Add the milk and mix until smooth
- Pour into cake pan
- Beat egg whites and add sugar
- Add nuts
- Spread over cake batter before baking
- Bake at 350 degrees until done
