Soft Molasses Cookies

Soft Molasses Cookies (VRP 001)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup lard
  • 3 eggs
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 cup baking molasses
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • Salt (1 teaspoon ?)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Ginger (1 teaspoon ?)
  • Cinnamon (1 teaspoon ?)
  • Cloves, ground (1 teaspoon ?)
  • Nutmeg (1 teaspoon ?)

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and lard
  2. Add eggs and beat well
  3. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt
  4. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture
  5. Add remaining ingredients
  6. Stir stiff with flour and drop from spoon
  7. Bake at 325 degrees until done
