Yield: 3½ dozen cookies

Slice 'n Bake Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¾ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup oats, uncooked
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Beat together sugar and butter until light and fluffy; blend in egg and vanilla.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients; gradually add to butter mixture, mixing well.
  3. Shape to form 12-inch roll; wrap securely.
  4. Refrigerate several hours or overnight, until firm.
  5. Heat oven to 375°F.
  6. Slice dough into ¼-inch slices; shape to reform round shape, if necessary.
  7. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
  8. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar, if desired.
