Salt Beef

Ingredients

  • 100 pounds of beef
  • 9 pounds of salt
  • 1 pint molasses
  • 2 ounces black pepper
  • 2 ounces salt peter

Instructions

  1. Pack meat in a jar as tight as possible
  2. Dissolve the salt, molasses, pepper
  3. Pour over meat then cover well with boiling water put on a weight
  4. Cover to keep steam in 24 hours
