Rugelach Recipe



Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes


  • 1 cup butter, unsalted
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 3/4 cups flour, unsifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/3 cup cup seedless raisins, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 egg yolk, slightly beaten


  1. Cream the butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy
  2. Add the flour and salt
  3. Beat well
  4. Wrap and chill dough for 2 hours
  5. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, raisins, nuts, and cinnamon
  6. Divide dough into 9 equal part
  7. Work one piece at a time and refrigerate the rest
  8. Roll dough to an 8" circle
  9. Sprinkle with sugar mixture
  10. Cut into 8" pie wedge shapes
  11. Wide to tip, place point side down on ungreased cookie sheet
  12. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with the remainder of the sugar
  13. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown
