Rolled Sugar Cookies Recipe

- ½ cup shortening
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon grated orange peel
- 2 cups enriched flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon soda
- 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
- Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar.
- Add egg and beat well.
- Add vanilla and grated orange peel.
- Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk; mix thoroughly.
- Roll 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured surface.
- Cut with floured 4-inch cooky cutter; sprinkle with sugar.
- Decorate with raisins. bake in moderate oven (375°F) 12 minutes.
