Yield: 4 dozen cookies

Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe


  1. Cream together ½ cup shortening, ½ cup peanut butter.
  2. Add, and continue creaming, ¾ cup brown sugar, firmly packed.
  3. Stir in: 1 slightly beaten egg.
  4. Sift together: 1 cup sifted flour, ½ tsp. salt, ½ tsp. Arm & Hammer or Cow Brand Baking Soda.
  5. Add to first mixture; blend well.
  6. Chill 2 hours
  7. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; place on greased cookie sheet; dip fork in cold water; press each flat.
  8. Bake at 375° (mod. oven) about 10 minutes.
