Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake

Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake (VRP 098)

Ingredients

  • 1¾ cup sifted cake flour
  • ¾ t soda
  • ¾ t salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 T shortening
  • 3 T peanut butter
  • 2 sq. Bakers unsweetened chocolate melted
  • 1 t vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift flour once, measure, add soda, salt, and sugar, and sift together three times.
  2. Cream shortening and peanut butter until well blended.
  3. Then, add melted chocolate and mix well.
  4. Add sifted dry ingredients, milk and vanilla.
  5. Stir until all flour is dampened.
  6. Beat vigorously 1 min.
  7. Turn into 2 8-in, layer pans which have been greased, lined with waxed paper, and again greased.
  8. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 25 min or until done.
  9. Peanut Butter Cocoa Cake: Substitute for chocolate ¼ cup baker's Breakfast cocoa.
  10. Sift cocoa with dry ingredients.
