Why does the author have ( -1 1/2) beside the sugar. Does this mean that she starts with a 1/2 cup and goes up to 2 cups? I THINK this is an Orange Hollandaise Sauce recipe by the ingredient list.

Orange Sauce

Ingredients

  • 8 egg yolks
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 orange rind and juice
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1/2 pint whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Mix and cook till thick.
  2. When cool add 1/2 pint whipped cream.

  • Does this say orange rind and juice? I feel that I am reading this wrong.
  • I am not sure what is after the 1/2 on the next to last line. I think it means pint
