Mothers Stew

Mother's Stew

Ingredients

Stew Recipe

  • Steak
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oil
  • Water
  • Onions
  • Potatoes
  • Carrots

Dumpling Recipe

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • Milk

Instructions

Stew

  1. Pound the steak into a lot of flour (flour acts as thickener)
  2. Cut into steak into pieces
  3. Add oil to pan and add steak
  4. Season and brown
  5. Add a few cups of water
  6. Simmer for 1/2 hour
  7. Add vegetables
  8. Cook 1/2 hour
  9. Add dumplings
  10. Cook 20 minutes

Dumplings

  1. Use fingertips to break up fine
  2. Add enough milk to make it ready to roll
  3. Handle as little as possible
  4. Roll dumpling dough out
  5. Cut into squares
  6. Add to beef mixture
