Mother's Stew
Ingredients
Stew Recipe
- Steak
- Flour
- Salt
- Pepper
- Oil
- Water
- Onions
- Potatoes
- Carrots
Dumpling Recipe
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- Milk
Instructions
Stew
- Pound the steak into a lot of flour (flour acts as thickener)
- Cut into steak into pieces
- Add oil to pan and add steak
- Season and brown
- Add a few cups of water
- Simmer for 1/2 hour
- Add vegetables
- Cook 1/2 hour
- Add dumplings
- Cook 20 minutes
Dumplings
- Use fingertips to break up fine
- Add enough milk to make it ready to roll
- Handle as little as possible
- Roll dumpling dough out
- Cut into squares
- Add to beef mixture
