Ice Water Fudge Cake

Ingredients

Ice Water Fudge Cake

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 2¼ cups sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 squares chocolate, melted
  • 1½ cups ice cold water
  • * Mocha Frosting

Mocha Frosting

  • ¼ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon cream
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • ¼ teaspoon instant coffee
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar

Instructions

Ice Water Fudge Cake

  1. Grease and flour 10 x 15 inch cake pan.
  2. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.
  3. Thoroughly cream shortening and gradually add sugar; add vanilla.
  4. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy.
  5. Add chocolate.
  6. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with ice water and mix just until blended.
  7. Pour into cake pan and bake in 350° oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
  8. Cool; frost with Mocha Frosting.

Mocha Frosting

  1. Combine ingredients in the order listed and beat thoroughly.
