Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream tartar
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped
  • Vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, cream sugar, butter, eggs
  2. Sift into a separate bowl flour, soda, and cream of tartar
  3. Add nuts and vanilla
  4. Then knead in dust of flour
  5. Roll and put in ice box overnight
  6. Slice and bake any time

COOKS NOTES

  • The author didn’t give a measurement for the vanilla, I recommend at least 1 teaspoon
  • I would cut the slices about 1/4″ thick for each cookie
  • Normally these cookies are baked at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes
