Ham Cheese Chowder

Ham Cheese Chowder


  • 1 cup coarsely shredded carrots
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • ¼ cup butter or oleo
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1½ cups finely diced ham
  • ½ tsp celery seed
  • ½ tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sharp [process] american cheese cut in cubes


  1. In large saucepan cook carrots & onion in butter until tender, but not brown.
  2. Blend in flour, add milk & cook till thickened & bubbly, stirring often.
  3. Stir in diced ham, celery seed & worcestershire, heat through.
  4. Add cheese & stir till melted.
  5. Serve immediately or reheat on low.
