Gingerbread Recipe

Gingerbread
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 1/2 cup enriched flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
Instructions
- Pour water over shortening
- Add sugar, molasses and egg
- Beat well
- Add sifted dry ingredients
- Beat until smooth
- Pour into greased 8" square pan
- Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 35 minutes
