German Sweet Chocolate Cream Cheese Brownies

German Sweet Chocolate Cream Cheese Brownies

Ingredients

Brownie Layer:

  • 1 package (4 ounces) BAKER'S GERMAN'S Sweet Chocolate
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) margarine
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup chopped nuts

Cream Cheese Layer:

  • 4 ounces PHILADELPHIA BRAND Cream Cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Instructions

  1. HEAT oven to 350°F (325°F for glass baking dish).
  2. MICROWAVE chocolate and margarine in large microwavable bowl on HIGH 2 minutes or until margarine is melted.
  3. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.*
  4. STIR ¾ cup sugar into chocolate until well blended.
  5. Mix in 2 eggs and vanilla.
  6. Stir in ½ cup flour and nuts until well blended. Spread in greased -inch square pan.
  7. MIX cream cheese, ¼ cup sugar, 1 egg and 1 tablespoon flour in same bowl until smooth.
  8. Spoon over brownie batter; swirl with knife to marbleize.
  9. BAKE 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs.
  10. DO NOT OVERBAKE.
  11. Cool in pan.
  12. Cut into squares.

Notes

Makes 16.

*TOP OF STOVE PREPARATION: Melt chocolate and margarine in heavy 2-quart saucepan on very low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Continue as above.
