Fudge Cake

Fudge Cake

Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

Fudge

  • 3 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2/3 cup sugar

Cake Batter

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Combine chocolate, milk, egg, and sugar in saucepan
  2. Cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly
  3. Cool mixture
  4. Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla
  5. Beat in eggs one at a time
  6. Sift flour, baking, soda, and salt
  7. Add flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternatively with milk
  8. Blend in chocolate mixture
  9. Pour into 2 paper lined 9" round pans
  10. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes minimum
  11. Frost with satin chocolate frosting
