Double Boiler Chocolate Frosting

Double Boiler Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 egg whites, unbeaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 5 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 - 3 ounces bitter chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Put the above ingredients in top of a double boiler and place over boiling water beating at once with a Dover beater or electric beater
  2. Continue beating until mixture will hold a peak when beater is lifted
  3. Remove from lower part of the boiler and add 2 or 3 ounces of bitter chocolate that has been melted and cooled
  4. Food in and do not beat
  5. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla
  6. Spread on cake and garnish with marshmallows
