Ingredients

  • 1 cup dates stoned and chopped
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 egg well beaten
  • 1¼ cup flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 T butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 t soda
  • 1 t vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped dates with butter and boiling water and let stand while creaming the eggs and sugar.
  2. Cream sugar and egg well and add date mixture.
  3. Sift and measure flour resift with soda.
  4. Add nuts and combine with dates mixture.
  5. Add flavoring and bake 45 minutes in loaf pan.
  6. Serve hot or cold with whipped cream.
