Vintage Kitchen Tools, Dishes, and Cookbooks

I love vintage dishes and kitchenware and on the weekends I can often be found in a thrift store poking through the shelves to find vintage treasures to use as props for our photography for the site. Click here to view Vintage Kitchenware on Etsy.

You can always find treasures on sites that sell used items such as Vintage Cookbooks on eBay and Vintage Cookbooks on Etsy

Every once and a while you can find a good cookbook with Vintage Recipes on Amazon. I don’t have any recommendations as I haven’t bought any as I prefer the handwritten recipes that you see on our site.

Cinnamon Bread

2 cups flour, sifted 1 tsp. Baking powder ½ tsp. Baking soda ½ tsp. Salt

Sift the above into a bowl

4 Tblsp. Margarine, cream smooth 1 cup Sugar added to creamed margarine and cream fluffy

2 eggs add 1 at a time (my notes, based on experience, I would add the eggs to the creamed margarine and sugar mixture

1 Tsp. Vanilla add to margarine and egg mixture.

1 cup buttermilk alternate with flour

(my note…..again, recipe unclear but based on experience, I would sift the dry ingredients together into a bowl, then cream the moist ingredients in separate bowl with mixer. Once those are creamed together, I would alternately add the sifted flour mixture and buttermilk until full amount of each is incorporated into recipe)

Pour half of mixture into 9x5 loaf pan.

Combine 1 tsp. Cinnamon with 2 Tblsp. Sugar and sprinkle 3/4 of mixture over batter in pan. Add remaining batter to pan and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon and sugar mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees about 50 minutes. Cool in pan.

Recipe does not state but I would grease pan before pouring in batter.
