Chocolate Spice Cake Recipe

- 2 cups sifted flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup butter or margarine
- ½ cup shortening
- 4 tablespoons cocoea
- 1 cup water
- **½ cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- * Icing
- ½ cup butter or margarine, melted
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 pound confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- Sift together flour, sugar, soda and cinnamon.
- Heat together margarine or butter, shortening, cocoa and water; bring to a boil and add to dry ingredients.
- Mix well and blend in buttermilk, eggs and vanilla.
- Pour in greased 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan and bake in 375° oven for 25 minutes or until done.
- While still warm, spread with icing.
- Mix together until well blended
** One-half tablepsoon vinegar plus enough sweet milk to make one-half cup may be substituted.
