Chocolate Sheet Cake

Chocolate Sheet Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs - well beaten
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup Wesson oil
  • 3 tablespoon cocoa

Icing

  • 1 stick oleo
  • 3 tablespoon cocoa
  • 6 tablespoon milk
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar and salt. In a second bowl, mix eggs, soda and buttermilk and vanilla.
  2. In a sauce pan, bring to boil the oleo, water, oil and cocoa.
  3. Pour over flour mixture. Mix well and add to other mixture.
  4. Bake in a greased and floured 15-½c 10-½ pan for 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until cake springs back when touched with finger.
  5. Start preparing icing 5 minutes before cake has completed baking.

Icing:

  1. In a saucepan combine oleo, cocoa and milk. Melt, but do not boil.
  2. Remove from heat and beat.
  3. Add powdered sugar gradually; fold in vanilla and pecans.
  4. Ice while cake is hot.
