Chocolate Satin Frosting Recipe

Chocolate Satin Frosting
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- 3 x 1 ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 4 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- California walnuts, chopped
Instructions
- Blend sugar and water into chocolate
- Beat in 1/2 the egg into mixture and then beat in remaining egg
- Beat in the butter a tablespoon at a time
- Blend in vanilla extract
- Frosting will be thin at this point
- Place pan in ice water and beat until spreading consistency
- Spread on cake
- Trim by pressing walnuts around edge

My mom had this recipe and I've used it for 40 years. Not only is it the best chocolate frosting recipe...it freezes well.

@Lisa Bredbenner, you need to melt the choc before adding the water and sugar.
