Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cook Time: 12 minutes
Total Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter or other shortening
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed solid
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Shred or cut each small square of chocolate into 4 - 6 pieces
  2. Cream butter, add sugar, and cream until light
  3. Add egg, beaten
  4. Then a gradually the sifted flour, soda, and salt
  5. When well blended stir in chocolate, nuts, and vanilla
  6. Bake for 12 minutes in a moderate oven (350 - 375 degrees)

COOK’S NOTES

  • I have never hand cut chocolate to make chunks for my cookies and I cannot wait to try this!
  • A moderate oven ranges from 350 – 375 degrees and I normally bake my cookies at 350 so suggest starting with this temperature first to test the oven heat.
