Butterscotch Pie
This recipe for Butterscotch Pie is one of my favorite recipe cards because it dates itself by the mention of the measurement of butter is the size of walnut using a spider pan!
In addition to Dutch ovens with three or four feet, which Abraham Darby I secured a patent in 1708 to produce, a commonly used cast-iron cooking pan called a spider had a handle and three legs allowing it to stand upright over campfires as well as in the coals and ashes of a fireplace.

Haven't figured out the spider yet. I assume it is some kind of pan. If I make this pie it will have to be without the spider.

Yes, it's an old cast iron pan with legs so it could sit over a fire.

I am not sure as I do not know a lot about a gluten free lifestyle and what defines gluten free
