Buttermilk Biscuits 2

Buttermilk Biscuits


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • ½ cup real butter, chilled
  • 1 cup buttermilk


  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. In a medium bowl stir flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
  2. With a pastry blender cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in buttermilk.
  4. Place on a lightly floured surface; knead three to four times and roll or pat to ½- to ¾-inch thickness.
  5. Cut with a 2½-inch biscuit cutter dipped in flour.
  6. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
