Buttermilk Biscuits

Buttermilk Biscuits (VRP 90)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon soda
  • 4 tablespoons shortening
  • ¾ cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and soda.
  2. Cut in shortening and stir in buttermilk to make a soft dough.
  3. Work lightly on a floured board; roll out to about ½ inch thickness and cut.
  4. Place biscuits on a greased baking sheet and bake at 450° for 6 to 8 minutes or until brown.

Notes

Yield: 12 to 16 biscuits.
