Butter Pecan Cake Recipe

- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 3 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup pecans, chopped (optional)
- Add sugars, baking powder, and salt to flour
- Stir to mix well
- Add shortening and 3/4 cup milk
- Mix for 2 minutes
- Add remaining milk, eggs, and vanilla
- Beat for 2 minutes
- Stir in nuts
- Make 2 x 9" layers or a 9" x 13" loaf
- Bake at 375 degrees
