Blond Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cups sifted flour
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1 pound brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 package (6 ounce) chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Grease 15 x 10-inch cake pan.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Melt shortening in saucepan; add brown sugar and blend; cool 10 minutes.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  6. Stir in sifted dry ingredients, chocolate chips and nuts until evenly mixed.
  7. Pour into pan, spreading evenly.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
  9. Cut while slightly warm.
