Beef Tomato and Cabbage Scallop

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 2 1/2 cups tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup soft bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in shortening
  2. Add the onion and celery
  3. Cook for 5 minutes
  4. Add the tomatoes, salt, and pepper
  5. Bring the tomatoes to a boil
  6. Place alternate layers of cabbage and beef mixture in buttered 2 quart baking dish
  7. Top with the bread crumbs
  8. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 - 45 minutes
