Barbecued Spare Ribs

Barbecued Spare Ribs

Cook Time: 2 hours 10 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 5 - 6 pounds spareribs (2 racks), cut into serving pieces
  • Salt
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup molasses, unsulphered
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 1/4 cup vinegar

Instructions

  1. Place spare ribs in a baking pan with the meat side up
  2. Spring with salt and topped with lemon slices
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour
  4. Drain the fat
  5. Refrigerate
  6. Combine remaining ingredients
  7. Grill ribs 6" - 8" from heat
  8. Turn and brush with sauce after 15 minutes
  9. Cook 15 minutes longer basting frequently

Barbecued Spare Ribs (VRP 034)

Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 lb. 2 racks spare ribs cut into serving pieces
  • Salt
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup unsulphured malosses
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 1/4 cup vinegar

Instructions

Bake spare ribs meat side up, sprinkle with salt and topped with lemon slices at 350° for 1 hour. Drain fat, refrigerate. Combine remaining ingredients. Grill ribs 6 to 8 in from heat, turn and brush with sauce after 15minutes. Cook 15minutes longer lasting frequently. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
