Banana Spice Cake Recipe

Banana Spice Cake Recipe


  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 1½ cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup mashed bananas
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup finely chopped nuts


  1. Grease and flour 9-inch square cake pan.
  2. Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, salt and cloves.
  3. Cream butter or margarine and gradually add brown sugar.
  4. Beat in egg yolks and vanilla.
  5. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour cream and bananas.
  6. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  7. Pour into cake pan and sprinkle with nuts. Bake in moderate oven (350°F.) for 45 to 50 minutes.
  8. Yield 1 9-inch cake.
