Arlene’s Apple Dumplings Recipe

Arlene's Apple Dumplings
- 2 cups unbleached flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup milk
Sauce for Apples
- 1 1 /2 cup water
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons butter or oleo
- Apples, peeled and cored
- Sift flour, baking powder, and salt
- Blend in shortening
- Add milk and mix well
- Add water, sugars, and cinnamon to a saucepan and bring to boil
- Roll out the dough and cut into squares to place over each apple
- Arrange dumplings in the baking pan and pour syrup over the dumplings
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done
